How I look after the information you share with me about you and your child, in plain English.
Yorkshire Wolds Dyslexia Service is run by me, Natalie Fisher, in Pocklington, East Yorkshire. I am responsible for the personal information described here, and I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZC172167. If you have any question about your information, email me at natalie@ywds.co.uk.
What I collect
- When you get in touch: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and whatever you tell me in your message or booking notes.
- When I work with your child: your child's name, age and school, the information you and the school share about their learning, assessment results, reports, session notes and records of payment.
Some of this, such as information about a child's learning needs or health, is especially sensitive. I only collect what I need to support your child, and only with your agreement.
Why I use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange calls and sessions.
- To carry out assessments, plan and deliver teaching, and write reports.
- To keep the records my professional insurance and good practice require.
I never sell your information or use it for marketing.
Who sees it
I share reports and information about your child with their school only with your permission. I do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires me to, for example if I had a serious concern for a child's safety.
A few trusted services help me run the business, and handle information on my behalf:
- Zoho, for my email and for secure cloud storage of records, on its European servers.
- Cal.com, for booking calls.
- FormSubmit, which passes messages from the contact form on this website to my email.
- GitHub hosts this website, and Cloudflare counts visits to it without using cookies or identifying you.
Some of these services are based outside the UK. They are well-established providers with recognised safeguards for personal information.
How I keep it safe
Records are kept in secure, password-protected cloud storage with two-step login, not on paper or loose on a computer.
How long I keep it
I keep records for six years after I last work with your family, then securely destroy them. If an enquiry does not lead to any work together, I delete it within 12 months.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you or your child, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it or stop using it. Just email me and I will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
